Hybrid Golf Clubs
Posted in | Comments Off
Just recently, I was looking at a golf mag, once again, in the page examining the golf clubs in a pro player’s golf bag. The player didn’t even have a 3 iron, much less a 2 iron. The longest iron in his golf bag was a 4 iron. This says a lot, not only about how the sport is changing on the professional level, but how the game should be changing on the amateur level.
Even with the pros including hybrids to their bags, some amateurs still allow their pride to get in the way and try to execute longer irons. If the professionals are using them, then amateurs should be using them too. Many amateurs should only possess, at the most, a 5 iron and maybe even a 6 iron. The game will become much easier and a lot more fun.
Once the average golf player accepts they need to engage in hybrid golf clubs, they need to learn how to swing a hybrid golf club. The golf club appears to be more like a wood than an iron and as a result, many golfers wrongly swing the hybrid like a wood, not an iron. This is an error in judgment.
This suggestion is going to be fairly brief. Hybrid golf clubs are meant to take the place of irons, so swing them like an iron. Many golfers will try to sweep the golf club along the ground like a wood. Don’t do that. When swinging an iron, the golf player ought to make contact with the golf ball by a descending whack. The same golf swing should be used with the hybrid golf club. Hit down on the golf ball.
The hybrid is designed to strike the golf ball higher in the air therefore there is no need to try and sweep or help the golf ball. Let the golf club do the work. Striking down on the golf ball will increase the likelihood of firm connection. The golf club will take care of the rest.
First, go and buy hybrid golf clubs to replace your long irons. Second…use them. Swing down, make great contact and get ready to be astonished and thrilled that you are eventually able to hit fantastic shots with your hybrids.
